The 4th International Fish Congress & Fish Expo Brasil is an international event that groups all the sectors of the fishery production chain (industry, market, breeders, fishers, supply chain, and investors) to debate the most diverse themes of cyclical, strategical, and technical nature associated to the sustainable development of the sector, approximate producers, entrepreneurs, and market,to spread new Technologies, and to conduct business.

It is an event of debates, knowledge production, discussion on themes, and business conduction on an activity which is in full development in the Country. Brazil is one of the countries with the highest potential for fishery production of the world. Brazil can count on growing investments and institutional commitment to foster businesses associated with regulation, tributary policy, research, and technological development, credit lines, stimulation to consumption, among the other policies.

VENUE

The event will happen in the State of Paraná, Southern Brazil, which is the first tilapia producer of Brazil and is close to the state of Santa Catarina, which is the central pole of fishery industry of Brazil.

PParaná organized its fishery production chain through strong financing of the cooperatives of rural producers, which have been created over 50 years ago and have a strong tradition in the production of poultry, and swine. In the last ten years, cooperatives began to invest in the production of fishes, applying the know-how developed in the meat sector.

The 4th International Fish Congress was designed to satisfy the demand of a globally growing market. An event of such a nature will contribute to the development of the fishery sector in Brazil.

HEALTHY PROTEIN TO FEED THE WORLD

According to FAO, the consumption of fishing products in the world grows steadily since the decade of 1960. At that time the average world consumption was 9.9 kg/ person/year. In the decade of 1990 it increased to 14.4 kg/person/year, and 20 kg/ person/year in 2014. FAO previews for 2025 are of average consumption of 21.8 kg/ person/year, which means an additional requirement of over 31 millions tons of fishing products a year.

POTENTIAL FOR FISHERY PRODUCTION

Brazil is one of the world countries with the highest potential of fishery production in the world, mainly through aquaculture. FAO estimates that the country can produce 20 million tons/year. Today Brazil produces1.4 millions of tons.

Brazil has the most extensive world supply of freshwater (13%), ten millions hectares of dammed water surface, 8.4 thousand km of coast, species of fisheries of the highest value, favorable climate and abundance of raw material for the production of feeds.

According to FAO, fishing products are the main animal protein consumed in the world: 35% of the total. Fishing products are a crucial element in the international market, representing 60% of the world animal proteins exportations.

FISHERY PRODUCTION-THE FUTURE HAS ARRIVED!

Brazilian fishery production growth is about 8% a year. FAO projects a 104% growth for the next decade, the highest growth among all the world countries, with an estimated production of over 2 million tons/year in 2025.

In 2018, Brazil fish farmed more than 720,000 tons, with a revenue of 4.8 billion RS$ and the production of over one million direct and indirect jobs.

Brazil is the fourth main world producer of tilapia, after China, Indonesia, and Egypt. This species represents 51.7% of the national production of aquaculture.

> Native fish species, headed by the tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) represent 43.7% of the national production. Other species, 4.6%.
